Sound bites

sean doherty_web.jpgSold out! is the advice for Friday 7 August’s Pacific Dining Room lunch, where Geoffrey Robertson talks with esteemed profiler David Leser over five star food and carefully selected wines. Don’t panic:

The Byron Bay Writers Festival marquee program is a smorgasbord of brain food, but you’ll want to pull up a chair to the Festival lunch and dinner menu to completely satisfy your cravings.

Start with Thursday 6 August’s long sporting lunch. What a balls up: memorable sporting moments is the springboard for point scoring opportunities in which surf writer Sean Doherty, sports journalist and former rugby league coach Roy Masters and ex first grade rugby league player turned novelist Matt Nable swap anecdotes in a scrum controlled by ABC Radio’s Simon Marnie. Savour hearty food from Fresca at the Bangalow Hotel as these writers share indelible memories and tall tales.

Friday’s dinner at 7.30pm combines Byron food icon Steven Snow with Simon Marnie at the Byron Beach Café, where something fishy’s going on. Relish stunning food sourced from the freshest produce and sprung straight from the pages of Snowy’s sumptuous book Byron cooking and eating, accompanied by hand picked wines from Domaine Chandon and stories from a man whose passion for Byron is legendary.

On 9 August, a delicious Sunday lunch is shared with David and Kristin Williamson, at the chic Dish Restaurant. Australian Writers’ Guild Director Jacqueline Woodman keeps the Conversation flying as David and Kristin open up about the memoir that has made the private very public indeed. The spice won’t be confined to the plate at Dish: fabulous food, wonderful wine and elegant wit.

The Byron Bay Writers Festival hands you Byron on a plate. Mouth watering moments are yours, but you must book now.  Don’t be left on the sidelines: dive in for your just desserts!
